OK, So I left off yesterday by saying I now have an opportunity to earn extra income elsewhere and would info you all on how this may restrict my Authorships.
The opportunity is within the so named “Gig Economy”, in fact it’s the “Performance Industry” - stuff I have previously done either as an entertainer or business speaker. It’s certainly enjoyable, and would not have come about had it not been for my presence here on Substack (Hurray !!).
However it’s intermittent travel to work, starting in weeks yet. Nevertheless I expect it to supplement my pension … to some degree greater than my writing income.
Thus the anticipated Authorship restrictions are a partial reduction in output and frequency. Hmmm …. how do I cope with that whilst continuing to serve my valued subscribers ? The chosen solution is to slowly transition This Creative Adventure and Yes, I Author …. into one new Publication, which I have registered today, under the (Pheonix-like ?) name “Rise Island”…. ALL CONTENT WILL BE FREE.
The next few weeks I will be busy reorganising the structure of my two existing publications, so that everything continues under Rise Island. We go live to both mailing lists on the 11th March, thereafter thrice monthly. To avoid lengthy posts the content will be a mixture of text with links to extra optional material.
I am dropping “Paid Subscriptions”, instead of which I’ll be examining the possibilities of low-cost, high-value digital products. A number of Substack Gurus are advocating such a model, and even offering courses on “How”.
On the subject of the AI threat there have been a number of interesting articles over the way AI is likely to push Humans to be ever more Creative than the soul-less machine. Can we rise to the challenge ?
With the implementation of these changes I’ll be able to maintain my passion for Substack and provide a better experience for all my lovely readers. I thank you all for being with me so far…. Consider yourself hugged !!
Yes, I believe AI will push us to be more creative. And that creativity will once more be valued.
Best of luck with your new venture and new Substack presence, Maurice.
