You said, This modern society WILL succeed in destroying Our World, just as it has almost succeeded in destroying our consciousness of community spirit - AKA - Our ability to Group Think with Clarity. What do you think ? Can we do it ? Will you do it ?

Yes, you are right, we do need to come together and do something to save the world, but your sentence there also got it right: we (almost) lost our ability to group think, the community spirit. But I will talk about myself because I feel so isolated from any kind of community that if everyone feels as alienated as I feel, we're fucked. I write critical posts, The Nasty Woman Rages Against The Machine, so, you can imagine, but when it comes to solutions the only thing I can propose is two words: solidarity and cooperation. And I know that those are concepts of which I should learn more but also, they should become actions, concrete things, and I have no idea how to go about that. I feel alone. My friends are moms and teachers, and artists who also have zero activism interests or experience. I never been in a political party. I don't know where to start. I join groups in the internet but it just stays there, nothing happens. So the only thing I can do is this, write, point to the problems because solutions I don't have.

Also I need to point to the fact that I lost faith in humanity. I used to be very positive, very nice, very catholic, I even wanted to be a nun at some point! And look at me now, I am The Nasty woman full of rage! The final transformation happened during the covid quarantines. My neighbors got pleasure torturing me, and I felt like the whole world did. It was then that I learned that some people are evil, malignant. And not just my neighbors. I also saw evil in myself and that scared me.

I don't believe that technology will save us. To the contrary. Technology is programmed by people and people, as I said, can be very flawed. I don't believe in a green revolution and the world sustainability makes me vomit. It's just another economic model. The extraction of rare metals to make batteries will not make the world better.

My vision of the future is this: we will have to go through the dark night of the soul as especies before we can get to any better place, if we survive it. I don't see paradise before passing through purgatory (the present) and hell (the near future).

But, my gleam of hope comes from the thought that, if we can organize ourselves now and think and plan what kind of world we want, what kind of good vision for all, if we are prepared when everything falls, maybe we can find hope for the future. But how?

I'm on the other side of the world now, in my Buenos Aires querido, I just arrived a few hours ago from The Netherlands, that's why I haven't had the time to write and I am not sure I will be able to write something for the contest. I would like to, but let's see.. Thanks Maurice for speaking out.

Greetings Angry Lady..... I too have felt the rage many times in my life, been part of many communities. Mostly of beautiful people, few activistas. Also Active communities where egos have resisted beauty. I could write dozens of posts plus conclusions but prefer to build a community based on intelligent caring. It's why I have been helping Suzanne.

I will re-read your comment and come back to you soon, because I think your anger comes not just from seeing the atrocities, but more from your frustrated passion. In the meantime please consider writing the essay according to Suzanne's brief. .... As if you are writing from your Calmer mind in 2050.

Met vriendelijk groetjes, en tot binnen kort, Deeper Peace, Maurice

Thanks, Maurice. "Frustrated passion," it's possible. I am over the top passionate and I find myself out of place all the time. Anyway, I keep writing and I will see if I can come up with something more profound than "I don't know", which is the only thing I've been able to respond with when asked about solutions.

Hallo again. This I discern from your openness.... There is more to you than yourself than you realize, prevented from surfacing by the anger.

If I were your Mentor, I would ask "Do you have a strategy that governs your writings ?".. "Have you considered the impact of your words on those who read / listen ?".. "Do you have the best possible name for your writings ?"

I think that writing an essay for Suzanne would help you focus better. A useful exercise....

Perhaps if you would like to send me a draft on the 16th, I could help you fine tune ? I'd be happy to do that on the 17th. The submissions date has been extended to the 21st. Peace, Maurice

Yes, that's what I have constantly been restacking for you, adding a comment as to why I believe in the concept.

Delighted that it's taking off so well, and that you have extended the deadline, allowing more authors more time to write better thought out essays..... I'll keep on plugging it. Peace, Maurice

Thanks Diana for the link. Unfortunately I am hard of hearing so, as usual I only get the Gist, but little detail. I agree there is insufficient focus, and am wondering if we can co-operate on reaching a wider audience..... like the 2,000 groups mentioned in the film. Maybe you could write articles that I can restack. I you have read some of my posts, you will see how I can write on unrelated topics which end up as promotions for Suzanne Taylor. These have resulted in a few dozen authors answering the call, and/or promoting it. This spreading cascade is bring both of us some interesting connections, and new subscribers. What we have done is akin to seed funding - a springboard for a longer broader campaign for Global Grassroots to proliferate. More soon, Peace, Maurice

Some feel overwhelmed when thinking about the scale of issues, and might need encouragement to "do what you can, not what you can't" in their everyday. Drive less, consume less, roll down your windows, turn off the AC, take public transportation when possible, and so on. Everything matters. Not throwing stones here, just encouraging anyone who reads this that they can makes changes, and change begets change in others. It really does.

Yes Mary, absolutely, been pushing this, face to face for some years. Realized I needed a wider audience, so joined Substack, where I find more Committed people daily than I could in a month of face to face. Resulted in working with and promoting Suzanne Taylor. The number of Essay contributors is enough for us to take the whole project Much Further. !! More on this very soon. BTW, restacking is the best way to spread those words you believe in. Peace, Maurice

Thanks for the nudge on restacking. I'm not familiar with it. Any advice? Peace to you, too. Onward!

Hi Mary ! OK, so.... when you restack you are sending someone else' post that you want to spread wider. Look at the bit where you would click "Like or Comment" To the right are two arrows forming a circle. Click and it will give you 2 options.... Send as is or add a comment (your endorsement) and send... Substack will quickly put it on Notes where it reaches a huge random audience. It may or may not bring further likes, comments to you. If you only want to forward it to one or three pals, click "Share" in the original post. Either way certainly promos both you and the original posing writer.... Winwinwin.... Peace, Maurice

We need to do something differently.

In case you haven't seen this film about the climate impacts of war, I'm sharing it with you as a possible resource. I wish there was more focus on this. It seems to be an environmental blind spot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pV5ICkZhWw
